Speech and Language

Southroyd receives specialist private support from a speech and language therapist. We have our therapist come in weekly for the assessment of children, or for the upskilling of our staff in the delivery of speech and language interventions.

If you, or a member of staff has a concern about the speech and language development of your child, the SENCo can refer your child for an assessment from the specialist therapist.

Once the assessment has been completed, school receives a plan, with targets and resources, to support your child in their development in this area.

A member of staff will deliver these sessions, and after the targets have been met or almost met, your child can be reassessed and given new targets dependent on the progress they make.
