SOUTHROYD EARLY YEARS: OUR ETHOS

Every child deserves the best possible start in life. We provide a safe, quality, and consistent environment for your child to thrive. Positive relationships with staff and other children are at the centre of our mission.

In Sunflowers and Bluebells, children are assigned to a Key Worker. This individual supports a secure foundation for your child and acts as a key contact person for you as parents. As children progress into Reception, their class teacher takes on the role of key worker to prepare them for the transition into Year One and beyond.

You as parents are valued as your child’s first teacher. We aim to work in close partnership with you and rely on your wealth of knowledge about your own child. We may even ask for your input to support our assessments so we can support their individual next steps both at home and at school.

OUR CURRICULUM

In both Sunflowers and Bluebells, practitioners plan towards the individual next steps of the children. Our curriculum is child- led while making links to real life events and festivals.

Possible themes which may be covered in Sunflowers and Bluebells:

In Reception we plan topics to ensure that children have the foundation of knowledge and skills to ready them for their next step into Key Stage One.

What is the EYFS Framework

Every child deserves the best possible start in life to fulfil their potential. A secure and happy childhood is vitally important with a high quality early education combined with good parenting to enable a child to make the best of their abilities growing up. The EYFS Framework is designed to provide a framework which ensures the optimum learning environment for all our Under 5s. The following sections detail a little more about the provision at Southroyd Primary School.
