Reading is vital to children's development and a crucial part of their learning. It is really important that we foster an enjoyment of reading and ensure that children love to read.

Parents should listen to their children read, but should also read to their children to engage them in the world of stories and imagination.

One of the difficulties for parents and children is often finding the right book, so at Southroyd we have spent time consulting children, parents and teachers to share a list of recommended reads.

This is by no means age limited and non-exhaustive but will provide some support to families trying to choose a suitable book.
