Book Trail October 2019
ACTIVE CITIZENS SHARE THEIR LEARNING AT BOOK TRAIL
For our Book Day Trail our classes worked closely alongside our fantastic "artists in residence", Mandi and Gosia, to create some wonderful art work and models for a series of book installations.
Next members of our Southroyd community and staff worked together over a whole day to build a fantastic trail - ACTIVE CITIZENSHIP in action!
Our families worked hard to promote their favourite books as part of our wider reading initiatives - children were encouraged to reflect on their own favourites and had a chance to buy some bargain 20p books during the evening. We recognise the importance of book ownership as a determiner of reading success and home reading opportunity.
In the gazebo we showcased the fantastic stories which our own children had managed to get published and made the perfect environment for some quality family reading opportunities.
We are thankful for all our fantastic families for their hard work in defeating the weather to make the Book Trail a huge success.
At the end of the torch led trail, children were able to enjoy marshmallows cooked over the fire and pizzas baked in our very own pizza oven. Again, without the help of our active citizens and wonderful Southroyd family, this would not have been possible.
