Intent

At Southroyd we want children to feel excited by their future prospects within the world of work and the opportunities that it presents. This includes developing important skills for work but also in fostering an awareness and curiosity about the potential roles within the world of work.

Implementation

School will strive to provide opportunities for children to meet and learn about adults from a broad range of roles and occupations. We will use curriculum links, assemblies and themed days to widen our knowledge about the world of work.

Investors in Pupils each year focuses on the roles of people who work with us as a school, and our Takeover Week allows children the chance to complete an application form and apply for one of these roles.

In 2024-25 we have already had professional bakers in school, met ecologists, had a meeting with a midwife and linked with Antarctic scientists to name a few!
